does this mean that the zerina version of openvpnctrl has no relationship with the version in openvpn, except by use of a common name. as openvpn is licenced with GPL v2, i would expect that any derivative work would be shared with the community of users. if zerina (or part thereof) is not an open source addon to ipcop a statement to that effect should be clearly expressed in the documentation, website, wiki, etc.
i just expect clarity in what people say and do in the name of free/libre open source software. if you have closed software, say so and state the restrictions you wish to impose and the user community can make a choice whether to use it or not. the use of a compiled executable with the same name as the an open source version creates a conflict which would be unknown to most users.
because i am insistent on using free open source software i will need to develop my own method to achieve what your version of openvpnctrl does.
